Aili and Dr. John Imarisio:
Bequest Supports College of Business
The College of Business recently celebrated a generous gift from the estate of Dr. John and Aili Imarisio.
NMU has received a generous gift from the estate of Dr. John and Aili Imarisio for the College of Business. Aili (Leppanen) Imarisio graduated from NMU in 1941 with a BS in secondary education.
Aili was born in Palmer, Michigan, in 1916, and spent her formative years in the Upper Peninsula. In addition to receiving her degree from NMU, she also studied at Morehead State and Miami of Ohio. After graduation, Aili taught for a while in the Chicago area. She then established a career with the American Red Cross Overseas group, serving in Japan and subsequently in Germany and New York. While in New York she met the love of her life, Dr. John Imarisio. They were married in 1955.
Aili was a member of the NMU Alumni Association for 18 years. She and her husband attended many alumni functions in the Chicago area. Aili died in 2012 and John in 2013.
We are proud and deeply grateful that both Aili and her husband, John, included NMU in their estate planning and honored us with this bequest designated for the College of Business.
